Thrush is a common fungal infection that can affect both men and women. It is caused by an overgrowth of the Candida fungus, which is normally found in small amounts in the mouth, throat, and vagina. Symptoms of thrush can include white or yellow patches on the tongue or throat, pain or burning during urination, and itching or irritation of the vagina.
There are a number of things that can increase your risk of developing thrush, including taking antibiotics, having a weakened immune system, or having diabetes. Thrush can also be spread through sexual contact.
