Tata Administrative Services (TAS) is a highly competitive and prestigious all-India service that offers a unique opportunity to work in the administrative machinery of the Government of India. TAS officers are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including policy formulation, implementation, and public service delivery. They play a key role in shaping the policies and programmes of the government and in ensuring that they are implemented effectively and efficiently.
The TAS exam is conducted annually by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). To be eligible for the exam, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. The exam consists of three stages: a preliminary exam, a main exam, and an interview. The preliminary exam is objective-type and consists of two papers: General Studies and Aptitude Test. The main exam is descriptive-type and consists of nine papers: Essay, General Studies I-IV, Optional Subject I-II, and Indian Language. The interview is the final stage of the exam and is conducted by a panel of UPSC members.
